{"id":1317,"date":"2014-12-08T13:34:50","date_gmt":"2014-12-08T18:34:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/saphonemeeting.org\/blog\/?p=1317"},"modified":"2014-12-08T13:41:02","modified_gmt":"2014-12-08T18:41:02","slug":"step-studies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/saphonemeeting.org\/blog\/step-studies\/","title":{"rendered":"Step Studies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When we come into the rooms of recovery we quickly learn about the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions.<\/p>\n<p>We hear there are &#8220;suggestions&#8221;, but it turns out they are really &#8220;Musts&#8221;.\u00a0 In fact, there are over 103 in the AA Big Book. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.barefootsworld.net\/aa103musts.html\" target=\"_blank\">Read more<\/a><\/p>\n<p>What about the Bleeding Deacon\u00a0and Elder Statesman?\u00a0 I know personally, that I am very guilty of being a &#8220;control freak&#8221; and behave like a baby if I do not get my way.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bleeding Deacon<\/strong> &#8211; In the context of a 12-step program like Alcoholics Anonymous, a bleeding deacon is someone in the group who is overly preachy and considers themselves to be the lone voice of reason and source of wisdom.
