{"id":84,"date":"2013-09-07T21:35:20","date_gmt":"2013-09-08T01:35:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/saphonemeeting.org\/blog\/?page_id=84"},"modified":"2015-02-05T06:12:49","modified_gmt":"2015-02-05T11:12:49","slug":"service-opportunities","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/saphonemeeting.org\/blog\/service-opportunities\/","title":{"rendered":"Service Opportunities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>We\u00a0are always looking for trusted servants to help!<\/strong>\u00a0 &#8220;There is an unwritten step underlying all twelve.\u00a0 Call it Step Zero: &#8220;We participated in the fellowship of the program.&#8221; No one seems able to stay sober and progress in recovery without it, though some try.\u00a0 For most of us, without associating in some way with other recovering individuals, there is no lasting sobriety and none of the fringe benefits of recovery, growth, freedom, and joy.\u00a0 This holds true even for &#8220;loners&#8221; (those without groups).\u00a0 We don&#8217;t try to explain this; it is simply a fact.&#8221; (SA WB pg. 63)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/saphonemeeting.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/people.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1055 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/saphonemeeting.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/people.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"760\" height=\"214\" srcset=\"http:\/\/saphonemeeting.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/people.png 760w, http:\/\/saphonemeeting.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/people-300x84.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Participate on the Call<\/h2>\n<p>Just coming to the meeting is a form of 12th Step work.\u00a0 Even if you don&#8217;t say a word, your presence is noticed and it helps others.\u00a0 There is something to be said for &#8220;strength in numbers&#8221;.\u00a0 Step Twelve: &#8220;Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to carry this message to sexaholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.&#8221;\u00a0 In the old days, folks who stood next to the entrance of the church were assigned a job known as &#8220;Greeters&#8221;.\u00a0 They simply welcomed everyone who walked in and introduced themselves.<\/p>\n<p>When the secretary asks for a volunteer to read, speak up.\u00a0 Have your White Book handy beforehand.\u00a0 Soon, everyone will want to read, so be patient.\u00a0 There are plenty of meetings that need people to help read the literature.\u00a0 It is a great blessing to everyone on the call listening to someone read, because some people are driving or at work and can only listen.<\/p>\n<p>We don&#8217;t have coffee makers, but being a secretary (aka chairperson or facilitator) of meeting is a great form of Service.\u00a0 Tradition One: &#8220;Our common welfare should come first; personal recovery depends on SA unity.&#8221;\u00a0 Fortunately, Roy K. wrote down many suggested Meeting Guidelines (<a href=\"http:\/\/saphonemeeting.org\/blog\/mute-feature\/\" target=\"_blank\">click here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h2>Writers<\/h2>\n<p>Are you interested in sharing your &#8220;experience, strength and hope&#8221; with the fellowship?
